Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier visits The Gambia

From 13 to 14 December Federal President Steinmeier was on an official visit to The Gambia. President Steinmeier was accompanied by a large delegation, including a delegation of businessman headed by the Federal Minister of Economics, Brigitte Zypries.

During his visit, President Steinmeier met with civil society organizations and visited the Dippakunda Hospital, which is run by the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund, a German charity organization. At the Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI), Steinmeiner and his delegation visited workshops and exchanged views with returnees and non-governmental organizations.

On the occasion of the state banquet upon invitation of President Barrow, Federal President Steinmeier declared: "Germany is determined to help the Gambia strengthen its democracy through joint efforts in the areas of energy, security, culture and, most importantly, job creation."
